About the project
Alchemilla Distillery has been prioritized for support from Leader Sörmlandskusten to conduct a feasibility study to start a distillery at Långbro Gård outside Mölnbo. The feasibility study is a crucial part of their vision to not only produce high-quality gin, absinthe, and spagyric elixirs but also to promote local cultivation, sustainability, and collaboration within the community.
The purpose of the feasibility study is to explore and clarify the process of starting and operating a distillery, including obtaining necessary permits and licenses, financial planning, and study visits to learn from best practices.
The result of the feasibility study will be a well-developed project and financing plan that will be fundamental for the upcoming distillery project.
Alchemilla Distillery strives not only to be a business but also a social movement that aims to create meaning and context for the community. Through collaboration with Daily Activities for people with disabilities to run and manage an herb garden, they offer meaningful employment.
The project is supported by several key stakeholders, including Långbro Gård Säteri, retailers, daily activities, and herb producers in the local area. Through their participation and collaboration, Alchemilla Distillery hopes to create a strong and sustainable foundation for its operations.
The project is prioritized by Leader Sörmland Coast and is awaiting the Swedish Board of Agriculture's formal decision.

Decision justification
At Långbro Gård, there are good conditions to establish new activities within the production, processing, and sale of locally produced agricultural products. The study can contribute to a better understanding of how a new area of activity can be developed and financed for increased business benefits for both Alchemilla Distillery and the property owner of Långbro Gård. The project's design also provides good opportunities for collaborations with already established businesses on the farm and to create synergies with nearby activities such as daily activities.
