About the project
The residents of Enhörna and its surrounding area can now look forward to easier access to locally produced game meat thanks to the opening of a new unmanned farm shop at Ekensbergs Gård. This innovative initiative responds to a long-standing demand for a reliable and organized sales channel for locally sourced game meat.
”We are proud to be able to offer our neighbors and visitors high-quality, locally sourced game meat directly from our own lands,” says William Hamilton, project manager at Ekensbergs Förvaltning AB. ”This shop will not only facilitate for consumers but also strengthen local agriculture and game management.”
The new farm shop, located in a strategically placed facility at Ekensbergs Gård, will be equipped with modern technology such as access systems and surveillance cameras to ensure a safe and smooth customer experience.
Collaboration with local actors
The project is the result of close collaboration with several local actors. Enhörna Hembygdsförening plays an important role by contributing historical material and planning exhibitions about the local slaughtering activities in the shop. This creates a unique meeting place where history and present meet.
”By collaborating with the farm shop, we can highlight Enhörna's rich history and engage more in the community,” says Mona Elveskog from Enhörna Hembygdsförening. ”This is a fantastic way to unite culture and business.”
Local companies such as Wexthuset and Enhörna Musteri have also been involved, broadening the shop's offerings with more locally produced products. Landowners and hunters in the area contribute game meat, ensuring a stable supply and supporting sustainable game management.
Project
”Game meat is a climate-smart choice that supports sustainable food production and contributes to a healthier environment.”
LAG's motivation
The project to open a farm shop in Enhörna that sells locally sourced game meat responds to a real need for a reliable and organized place for purchasing locally sourced game meat. Many residents in the area have long requested easier access to these products, and the current lack of sales outlets leads to waste of resources and missed opportunities. By utilizing a location with a good position, the project will not only strengthen local agriculture and game management by creating a stable market but also increase community benefit by involving Enhörna Hembygdsförening. This contributes to more people in the community getting involved, which promotes cohesion and makes the project a model for future similar initiatives.
Ekensbergs Förvaltning AB is a joint management and operations company for Horns Säteri and Ekensbergs Gård in Enhörna.
