About the project
Great interest in home-grown preparedness
The project "Grow everyday food" takes local preparedness issues to your grow box. For two years, the project has spread information about your own responsibility for home preparedness - and developed new forms of collaboration for home/household cultivation, increased knowledge among citizens through courses and training, strengthened social networks, meeting places and community. The project is run by Trosa Municipality and ran during the years 2023-2024.
The project has inspired many and created ripples in the water. Among other things, project leaders Eva Westergren and Charlotta André have been to Åre for the Norwegian-Swedish conference ”Resilience Across the Border” to talk about the project and how others can learn from it – how cool is that?!

Purpose: The project aims to increase awareness and knowledge about one's own responsibility for home preparedness and to support new forms of collaboration for increased food production in Trosa municipality.
CASE:
- Create a collaborative model around home preparation with a focus on home growing food.
- Document the collaboration model in a written method book
- Design and implement a number of courses on home cultivation, preparedness and coaching for the public
- Produce 8–10 30-minute video clips for educational purposes.
- Create a demonstration farm
- Promote the project through public events

Justification for the board's decision
The project contributes to strengthening the area's food self-sufficiency and provides opportunities for new forms of skills development and collaboration between citizens and the municipality around small-scale farming projects.
The LAG board also sees a great opportunity that the project can contribute to increased interest in civil defense and crisis preparedness and at the same time create conditions for the population to take responsibility for part of their food needs themselves. The project contributes to the Nära Mat focus area with new networks and skills-development activities for a large number of participants.
