Creative country

Theater camp for children creates interest in local cultural engagement

About the project

Cultural cultivation (Franziska Lotz sole proprietorship) runs the project and collaborates with artists, educators, and local actors: Bellablue, Nature Art Design, and Birgitta's Garden.

Within the project, several initiatives were made possible to strengthen culture in the countryside, by creating engagement and interest in culture and art in the area. This was done by building a movable summer stage, inviting an artist to create a work on the stage, inviting children to theater camp, and driving a process to potentially start an association focused on art, culture, and sustainability.

During the summer of 2025, children were invited to a three-day theater camp at Cultural cultivation, Runnviken (Nyköping municipality). The children worked together with two leaders to discover theater, create their own costumes, and then perform the play for their parents.

”Can we do this again next summer?” wondered one of the children. We at Leader also hope that the engagement around culture continues and that the project can help mobilize those living in the area around culture and events.

Culture mobilizes!

ABOUT ”CREATIVE LAND”

”We want to give children the opportunity to grow through theater, art, and creativity in the midst of the countryside's environment”

One of eleven projects within "Creative Rural Areas"”

Culture as a tool for rural development

In 2025, Leader Sörmland Coast is making a special effort on projects with cultural and creative actors. We are financing 11 projects that, with small funds (max. 40,000 SEK incl. VAT), will make contributions within the culture or creative sector. The projects are always in collaboration with at least one actor.

With the 11 sub-projects, Leader Sörmland Coast wants to promote culture as a tool for the development of towns and rural areas in our area.

The purpose of the project is to promote culture, creativity and place development in rural areas within the framework of the Leader method.

The goal of the project is to grant 10 projects with a focus on location development for creative and cultural industries.

The project is partly funded by the EU.
