Lokalt förädlade frukt och bär i ett nyöppnat musteri
About the project
Under 2025 slog Renée och Henrik Öqvist upp portarna för Rhoo musteri, på Kallfors gård utanför Järna i Södertälje kommun. Här ska de utveckla en året-runt verksamt musteri och förädling av frukt och bär. De har fått projektstöd för att utveckla sin musteriverksamhet.
Projektet möjliggör att korta livsmedelskedjan, då lokala odlare och privatpersoner kan musta sin frukt hos musteriet. I projektet samarbetar Rhoo musteri AB med Kallfors kök (Golfklubben) där fastighetsägaren har anpassat en fd. stallbyggnad för verksamheten.

Why was the project prioritized?
LAG assesses that the project has a strong local anchoring and responds to a clearly identified need for increased capacity for processing local fruit, especially outside the traditional must season. By establishing a year-round must factory, a concrete and long-term solution is created that strengthens food security, reduces waste and contributes to the development of a sustainable local beverage culture.
The project is also considered to have good potential to create lasting effects through business development, jobs and continued collaboration with actors such as Sörmlands Äppelodlarförening, local restaurants and food clusters. The project has a clear business focus combined with societal benefit, contributing to several goals within the Leader Sörmlandskusten strategy – in particular increased access to local food, strengthened local economy and sustainable rural development.

Purpose and goals
Purpose: Projektets syfte är att tillvarata lokala frukter och bär som annars riskerar att gå till spillo, samt att erbjuda hållbara, närproducerade drycker året om. Genom att erbjuda mustning och dryckesproduktion till både privatpersoner och kommersiella aktörer stärker projektet den lokala matkedjan och bidrar till genomförandet av Sörmlands livsmedelsstrategi.
CASE: Projektets mål är att utrusta en lokal med ett år-runt-öppet musteri med kapacitet för både mustning och produktion av cider och kolsyrade drycker. Projektet mål är också att inreda en del av lokalen som gårdsbutik för försäljning av de egna produkterna som marknadsförs via en hemsida.
