Oxelösund judo club develops operations and adapts premises for more target groups
About the project
Now Oxelösund's judo club wants to include more people in judo!
After Swedish bronze medals in both the Paris Olympics and Paralympics, more people have opened their eyes to judo. This is not least noticeable in Oxelösund's judo club - where around 100 children are queuing to train! In 2025, the club will expand with new premises in Ramdalen Sports Center and will be able to meet that demand.
Now the club wants to be able to reach more people who cannot practice the sport today. By installing an elevator in the new premises, people with disabilities or mobility impairments can also come down to the new premises – and thus opens up the opportunity for the club to start courses in adapted judo (A-judo). Oxelösund's judo club is already working today to be inclusive and to enable people to practice judo throughout their lives – including through fall training courses. The club collaborates with many associations and actors in the local community, including senior associations, student associations, schools, rehabilitation and others.
Developing the business and enabling more people to practice judo is in line with the club's inclusive spirit and the values of judo - development, discipline and respect.

Justification
Oxelösund Judo Club is a well-established sports club in Oxelösund. The judo club now wants to develop so that new target groups will have the opportunity to train judo - through a project to adapt the premises. The LAG board believes that through the project, the club can become a role model for other sports clubs to work more inclusively of people with cognitive or physical disabilities, and that they can develop their course activities with the elderly and the disabled. The club has well-established collaborations and networks in the local community as well as in judo-Sweden, and they can spread their inclusive working method in Sweden and abroad.
The board sees an opportunity - with a smaller project effort - to create the conditions for including more people in judo.

About the project
Purpose:
The purpose of the project is for Oxelösund's judo club to become more inclusive and offer training to more target groups.
CASE:
The project's goal is to adapt the new training facility to people with disabilities and mobility impairments. The long-term goal is for the club to be able to offer courses and training for children, young people and adults with special needs.
Activities:
The activities in the project are installation of a platform lift and construction of a platform, purchase of special equipment, installation of a defibrillator.
