LAG's decision justification

A regional contract production node for small-scale preservation in glass at Christineholm can strengthen regional small-scale producers and food artisans on the Sörmland coast. The project creates opportunity and capacity for small-scale local vegetable producers and processors to scale up their operations without having to own or invest in production equipment themselves.

Adapting the facility to also function as an educational space simultaneously strengthens the potential for the facility to become a place for learning and education in pressure preservation in collaboration with other local, regional, and national actors. The step for a small producer to scale up their production is significant, so the project lowers the barriers for producers by enabling them to test the facility, ask questions, and share ideas about scaling up in workshops.

The project is a welcome addition to the infrastructure for glass preservation in Sörmland and all of Central Sweden. The project is based on dialogue with regional actors such as Matlust Development Node, Sörmland's Food Cluster, and Campus Nyköping, which confirms the need. The project demonstrates a strong ambition to – in collaboration with other regional and national actors – continue to strengthen and develop knowledge and education around glass preservation after the project's conclusion. The node would also play an important role as a place for teaching moments and demonstration days, as a meeting place for networks and collaborations, and continued innovation within small-scale preservation in glass.
