This is how we attract more people to rural areas

Insights from the Talent City Index 2024 show how sustainability, security and remote work can attract more people to the countryside. Leader Sörmlandskusten works to create an attractive and vibrant countryside.

Leader Sörmland Coast is actively working to strengthen the attractiveness of rural areas. Through insights from the latest report, Talent City Index Sweden 2024, we get a clear picture of what is needed to attract more people to live and work in our lifestyle regions. The report highlights crucial factors such as security, sustainability and the possibility of remote working – all to meet the housing preferences of the future.

Key lessons from the report:

  1. The strength of lifestyle regions: The Stockholm archipelago, Gotland and Dalarna region tops the list of Sweden's most attractive areas. This shows the importance of highlighting unique qualities such as proximity to nature, a sustainable lifestyle and community.
  2. Remote work as a driving force: The ability to work remotely is one of the most crucial factors in attracting new residents. Rapid broadband deployment, flexible workplaces and coworking opportunities are key areas to focus on.
  3. The dream of living close to nature: The report shows that a majority of Swedes dream of a life close to nature. Highlighting the unique rural lifestyle can make it even more attractive.

Our role in development:

Leader Sörmland Coast is an important player in creating the conditions for a vibrant rural life. By supporting projects that improve infrastructure, highlight sustainability and develop local initiatives, we contribute to a stronger and more attractive region.
