Nynäs IK creates new gathering place for outdoor activities at Sörmlandsleden
Nynäs IK, with its strong commitment to outdoor life and community, is now starting an exciting project that will strengthen Tystberga and its surroundings. A new barbecue area with wind protection will be built at the club's cabin, located directly adjacent to the Sörmlandsleden trail. The project is financed with support from Leader Sörmlandskusten and the Rural Development Fund.
The aim of the project is to create a wind-protected area with barbecue facilities that can accommodate at least ten people. The area will be a natural gathering point for both local residents and visitors from near and far. With its focus on wilderness and outdoor activities, it will also be used by schools, local associations and hikers who discover the scenic environment of the Sörmlandsleden trail.
The construction includes earthworks and construction, as well as signage with information about the site. The project also involves a strong focus on sustainability and community, as local youth are involved in parts
– ”This project is fully in line with our vision of promoting movement and activities in the outdoor environment,” says Annika Bohm, former chairwoman of Nynäs IK. ”We want to create a place where generations meet and share experiences, and we are convinced that this investment will bring great benefits to the village.”
The barbecue area is expected to be ready by the sports week of 2025, and the opening will be celebrated with an event for both young and old, including lectures and meals in true outdoor spirit.

LAG's justification
LAG's decision on prioritization with justification: A barbecue area and a windbreak can primarily benefit the residents and visitors in the area locally. Since the windbreak is adjacent to the Sörmlandsleden trail, the benefit can also accrue to the entire municipality as a destination for hikers along the trail. A physical place where people can meet and have joint activities focusing on wilderness and outdoor activities can provide added value to the area and to the association's other activities. The motivation for the investment is further strengthened when the school can use the area in its activities. LAG also looks positively at how applicants have involved young people in the implementation of the project. Nynäs IK is an established association that has shown evidence of designing a wide range of programs that engage and include both young and old.

About the project
The purpose of the project is to develop a gathering place with a focus on wilderness and outdoor activities and to strengthen the area's attractiveness for visitors.
The goal is to build a place protected from rain and wind with barbecue and seating for at least 10 people, and to have the place signposted and marketed with information.
The activities in the project are purchased services for earthworks, gravelling, assembly of modular construction and unit cost for meals in connection with the inauguration.
